Situation: Technology Informatics Guiding Education Reform (TIGER), a consortium of leaders
in nursing and informatics, recognized the need for nurses to develop new ways of integrating
informatics tools, principles and theories into education and practice. A two-day invitational
summit of 120 of the nation's thought leaders was planned to inspire the profession to lead this
transformation for safer, quality care.
Challenge: TIGER had planned the event for two years, and its agenda and speakers were set.
In three months, Bonfire had to redesign the event to meet the objectives of building a shared
vision and action plan. Simultaneously, Bonfire was charged with creating the summit's brand
and communications, as well as training, preparing and collaborating with TIGER's 16 speakers,
30 sponsoring vendors and 23-member team.
Solution: Bonfire designed and facilitated a dynamic, open-space event combining speakers,
exemplars and panelists, large and small group mapping sessions, audience-response voting,
graphic recording, and experiential learning with the latest healthcare technologies.
Results: Generating both a 10-year vision and three-year action plan for nursing, the summit
inspired collective leadership and ownership, along with a surge of positive feedback for the
event. Summit results continue to be presented at conferences internationally while being
implemented locally throughout the country.
